The Atomic Wedgie really excels when fish are finnicky and need to be teased into biting. This is more of a finesse bait and would generally be fished much slower than the rest of the Black Mamba line up. You would use an Atomic Wedgie in the same circumstances where you would normally use worms, craws, tubes and other finesse baits, and even in many circumstances where you might use livebait.

When fish are turned off and just don't want to bite anything, work the Atomic Wedgie® slowly through weedclumps and let it glide down seductively into the holes and hold onto your rod! It's small, tasty-looking snack, it's not intimidating to the fish and above all, it's a real easy target that just hovers in the fish's strike zone and they can't resist biting it.

If the water is less than say 6 feet deep, use no weight at all. If you are fishing deeper add a little weight, preferably less than 1/8 oz and certainly no more than 1/4 oz. The lighter the weight, the more the bait will glide. It is the slow gliding action which triggers the fish to bite. It's like waving a juicy cheeseburger under their noses!

The Atomic Wedgie® also has an incredible action which puts lots of fish in the boat. Let the bait glide down into a spot, and if it hasn't been eaten on the way down, just twitch the rod tip sharply and immediately point the rod forward to let the line go slack. The Atomic Wedgie® will pop up, then turn 180º and slowly glide back down to the very same spot it started from. This unique action can be made repeatedly and the Atomic Wedgie® will remain very close to its starting point. The Atomic Wedgie usually provokes a reaction strike, even from turned of fish,  because of it being tantalizingly waved right in the fish's face. When the bait pops up into the fish's line of sight, the fish will usually just move slightly toward the bait to have a look, and the bait turns around and swims right into his face and he bites it because it's there. You can also irritate fish into biting. But who cares why they bite, so long as they do!

You can substitute the Atomic Wedgie for:

Any topwater bait: rats, frogs, topwater spoons, spooks, poppers, slug-type baits etc.

Any hard or soft-plastic jerkbait: slug-type baits, flukes, shad imitators, etc.

Finesse Baits: on jigs or with nose weights- craws, pork, worms, leeches, minnows, lizards, grubs, tubes etc.

Trailers- Try them as a trailer on a spinnerbait or a buzzbait when you need a bigger profile.
