Of all the thousands of baits available to you on the market today, why should you even consider buying the Black Mamba® baits?

The answer is fish-catching versatility, my friend!

It's a sad fact, that almost all competitive lures do just one job and that is why most anglers have tackle boxes full of lures that they rarely, if ever, use. Even the hottest baits on the tournament circuit today, have a limited range of actions and uses.

Picture of Baits
The Black Mamba baits; the Slick Willy®, the Ribbed Willy®, the Wild Willy® and the Atomic Wedgie®,  are an incredibly versatile set of soft-plastic jerkbaits, each of which has been designed to do many different jobs.

They also have a unique design feature which puts more fish in the boat. They have been designed to have exactly the same profile as a baitfish belly when viewed from below, the preferred attack position of all predatory fish. So, when fish hit these baits, they don't hesitate, they absolutely smash them. It's like they are trying to KILL the baits.

If the fish aren't biting the lure you are throwing, you must rummage through your tackle box, in the hope of finding something they will bite. With the Black Mamba® baits, you can get many different fish triggering actions from each Black Mamba® bait without changing lures or rods. This means you can have your lure in the water for longer. You can't catch anything if you aren't wetting a lure!

When fished unweighted on the surface, the random, 'Walking-the-Dog' action of all of our 'Willy' baits, plus their realistic baitfish-belly profile, draw mind-blowing, topwater explosions. This is by far the most exciting way of fishing there is. We would rather catch one fish exploding on the surface, than 20 fish by any other means. And, we are not alone!

Predatory fish eat baitfish 95% of the time. Foods like crayfish, frogs and leeches, are more seasonal, opportunistic or occasional foods. Predatory fish specifically attack baitfish which are:

  • behaving oddly
  • too close
  • not paying attention
  • sick, weak, injured or dying
  • panicking.

Almost all competitive fishing lures have just one of these fish-triggering qualities. The Black Mamba® baits have ALL of them! This gives you a much greater chance of getting bitten. The Black Mamba® baits are, without doubt, the best 'actors' we have ever seen at playing all of the above and the fish get all over them!

Virtually weedless, they are unbeatable when fishing:
  • emergent vegetation
  • scum
  • slop
  • lily pads
  • overhanging trees
  • overhanging bushes
  • docks
The hard-to-reach spots where the big fish are virtually untouched. You can fish these spots much quicker and more thoroughly than by more conventional means, and that means more fish in the boat!

Because these baits will easily skip 30 to 40 feet, right to the back of docks and trees, you can get them into spots where other lures cannot reach. You can fish docks and trees much more thoroughly, in less than half the time of more conventional techniques such as pitching and flipping. This allows you to fish twice as many docks in the same time period, which by default, puts your bait in front of twice as many fish.

Also, because everyone fishes the same way; by pitching and flipping tubes, jig and pigs, jig and craws etc., the fish have seen them a thousand times before and know the UPC codes off by heart!!! Fish are much more willing to bite the Black Mamba® baits because they are less likely to become conditioned to them, and they are presented much more naturally; in the fish's preferred and normal attacking position, above the fish.

Add all these features together and most fishermen confirm our findings; they catch up to 4 times more fish than they did by flipping and pitching!

You can rig them to:

  • pop out of the water just like a scared baitfish being chased by a predator, a powerful trigger.
  • to dive like a crankbait.
  • to work like a popper.
  • catch short-striking fish which are only nipping at the tail of the bait.

In fact, you can rig them pretty well any way that you would rig any other soft-plastic bait:

  • for pitching and flipping
  • with nail-weights
  • with noseweights
  • on any type of jig which suits the situation
  • Carolina
  • Wacky-style
  • drop shot (we much prefer 3 way swivels, so the bait can 'do its thing').
  • 3 way swivels
  • bottom bouncers

Plus they make amazing trailers on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, adding a bunch of extra value. The list goes on and on.

In addition, they also virtually suspend, making for a really, easy target. If a fish misses the bait (which they often do, (with all baits) as fish are not the best shots in the world), do NOT reel in and cast again. If you do, you are telling the fish, that it was not real.

Instead, just leave the bait there and do absolutely NOTHING! The bait will sit there floating for a few seconds, then will start to glide down very sloooowly. As it picks up momentum, it will slowly spiral down just like a real baitfish would. About 70 to 80% of the time, the fish that hit the bait will think it stunned it and will come back and eat it! Be patient, it is well worth the wait!!
